Service Information | He was a trooper in the 1st Norfolk Yeomanry before the was and answered the call to the colours on August 5th 1914. He went to Gallipoli at the age of 19 and was one of the last six of his regiment to leave the peninsula. He then went to Egypt and Palestine and took an active part as a machine gunner in the battles of Gaza and Beersheba, and in the capture of Jerusalem and Jericho. In April 1918 he went with his regiment to France, where as a lance corporal in charge of a Lewis gun he was frequently in action. He was fatally wounded whilst fighting at Vieux Berguin on August 19th 1918 and died the next day in a Field Hopital, aged 22. At the time he was Corporal 320069.
