NotesGeorge Beck served in the 10th Border Regiment. He was killed at Grandcourt, 21st October 1916, aged 33. He was born at Earsham in Norfolk and lived Cromer, enlisting in Norwich. He was the husband of Kate Beck, of Cadogan House, Cadogan Rd., Cromer. In 1911 he was living in Camborne Cornwall, working as a general labourer. He was 29 at the time; he and Kate had one son, George Thomas, aged 3. The War Roll gives his first name as George but the official records show Onley.
Service InformationPrivate 21376, 8th Battalion Border Regiment. Formerly 18944 Norfolk Regiment. Killed in action in the later stages of the battle of the Somme near Grandcourt, on 21st October 1916. Aged 33. He is buried in Stump Road Cemetery, Grandcourt, Somme, France. Ref. B. 84
