Cromer Servicemen and Servicewomen in the First World War
Name | Joseph Harold Tibbalds |
Notes | Harold was a Lance Corporal in the 2nd Queens (Royal West Surrey Regiment). He enlisted in May 1916 and was killed in action at Bullecourt on 12th May 1917. The second Battle of Bullecourt, which involved his regiment, took place from the 3rd to the 17th of May. Harold, a musician and bass player (1911 census), was born, married and lived in Brighton, the son of William H and Florence Tibbalds of 24, Clifton Street, Brighton. He married Ethel Kate Hastings of 4, Bond Street, Cromer; should we suppose that she returned to Cromer and asked for his name to be included in the Roll of Honour here? The Commonwealth War Graves listing has him as Jospeh Harold but all other records show Harold Joseph. |
